It contains volatile oil "Oleum majoranae", turpentine oil and a bitter substance. Oleum majoranae is soluble in alcohol and ether instead of water. This volatile oil is locally hot when applied on skin and also increases blood circulation.
This volatile oil is also used in perfumes. Two to three drops of this oil are mixed in some drink or water and when it is drunk it expels the intestinal gases. This oil also relieve s colic pains. When this oil is sniffed it stops flu. It also relieves menstrual pain. It increases cardiac contractility.
After mixing oleum majoranae with olive oil or sesame oil it is used in joint pains. It is massaged on joints.
Put two to three drops of this oleum majoranae in the ear for earache. Use this thrice daily for three days.
Massage this oleum majoranae on scalp for migraine.
Oil can also be obtained by crushing the leaves in olive oil, boiling the mixture and then straining this oil.
Origanum majorana decoction
Take 250mg origanum majorana leaves and boil in 2.5 liters of water for 5 to 8 minutes. Take 20 to 30 ml of this mixture after every meal for any abdominal complaint.
This decoction is also effective in cataract of eyes if this cataract is not very old. It has cured cataract in many patients. It has also increased vision.
